WEESP CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL

19 — 20 March 2022

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the 9th edition of the Weesp Chamber Music Festival.

We are delighted to present some incredibly special artists at this year's festival, most of whom perform in Weesp for the first time, with the exception of Katya Apekisheva whom we welcome back whole-heartedly.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and safety measures, it wasn't even certain until a few weeks ago that we could proceed with this year's festival. As a result, this abbreviated festival programme is an eclectic mix of wonderful repertoire, derived from programmes of previously postponed concerts. This year's festival features some of the world's leading wind players so there is a natural French flavour to showcase their magical repertoire.

It's difficult to comprehend how we have reached a point at which two years of a pandemic has been overshadowed by a devastating war in Europe. We humbly dedicate these concerts to the Ukrainian people, wishing their country every strength at this time. It is more important than ever before to persevere with arts festivals as we desperately need them to remain a binding force which unites humanity and cherishes all that is beautiful in this world.

Situated just outside of Amsterdam, the Van Houtenkerk in Weesp in The Netherlands is a dream venue for our chamber music festival.

Not only does it have wonderful acoustics suited to chamber music but it has recently been renovated for sole use as an events venue. It promises to be a fantastic weekend of music with many marvellous guest artists and fantastic repertoire. Weesp is a picturesque and quintessentially Dutch town with many lovely canals, restaurants and pubs. It is easily accessible from Schiphol airport and Amsterdam Central Station and we really hope you can join us for some wonderful chamber music.
