Next Weesp Chamber Music Festival: 20-24 March 2019

The quartet is very excited to announce the following Weesp Chamber Music Festival will take place from March 21-24 2019. Situated just outside of Amsterdam, the Van Houtenkerk in Weesp in The Netherlands is a dream venue for our chamber music festival. Not only does it have wonderful acoustics suited to chamber music but it has recently been renovated for sole use as an events venue. It promises to be a fantastic weekend of music with many marvellous guest artists and fantastic repertoire. Weesp is a picturesque and quintessentially Dutch town with many lovely canals, restaurants and pubs. It is easily accessible from Schiphol airport and Amsterdam Central Station and we really hope you can join us next March for some wonderful chamber music.

La Belle Époque

Celebrating the rich treasure trove of music by French composers from the golden age of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, iconic masterpieces rub shoulders with exquisite rarities in this four-concert festival. International performing artists appear in multiple permutations from intimate solos and duos to glorious quintets and sextets. Join us for some of the most exhilarating, sensuous and ecstatic music ever written.

See the wooden houses and visit the working windmill at your own time and pace

Just a few minutes’ walk away from the Van Houtenkerk you can see these pretty wooden houses and then visit the working windmill (Saturdays open from 10.00 till 16.00, free entrance). The windmill was recently renovated and still mills wheat – see YouTube De Vriendschap. NB When you are in Weesp don’t forget to ask about the wooden houses (why are they not brick?) and check how many windmills there used to be in the town – something to do with the drink industry….)
